Andrew Costa – President

Elected 2022

Andrew is a former teacher of Chemistry and Biology to HSC level. After
graduating from Sydney University, Andrew worked in a number of Sydney high
schools and held the roles of Science Master and Head of Welfare services.
During his career Andrew served on the former Board of Studies HSC Biology
exam committee and as a senior marker of both Chemistry and Biology.

Andrew’s parents, Phroso and Thomas, migrated to Australia from Akaki Cyprus
in 1950. Although born in Australia Andrew returned to Cyprus in his early
childhood where he completed his primary school education. He then returned
to Australia to complete his secondary and tertiary education.

Andrew is a life member of the Community and over the past five years served
on the club’s Audit Committee.

Michael Peters Kyiakou – Secretary/General Counsel

Michael is admitted as a Solicitor & Barrister Supreme Court of NSW, High Court of Australia,
Lecturer / Researcher in law at Sydney, University, UNSW, has lectured in law in the UK, Macau, Hong Kong,
China, USA, and Italy, served as Secretary of the Cyprus Community of NSW Ltd 1985 -1987, Secretary Justice for
Cyprus Committee (SEKA) 1983 -1988, Director of the Board of Cyprus Community of NSW Ltd 2019 -2022,
Director of Cyprus Capital Limited, founder Cyprus Archaeological Research Fund Sydney University 1992 author
of 8 texts, articles, media commentator, opinion pieces, book chapters, presented conference and seminar papers in
Australia and overseas. Michael has served as arbitrator to the Local Court of NSW (Civil Claims), member of the
NSW Law Society President Arbitration Panel, and High School Certificate Legal Studies Exam Committee, Law
Society Business Law Committee 2013-15, and served as director and Deputy Chairman of a Sydney based mutual
bank, he is current General Counsel of an investment fund.
